How this site makes money

One sentence: display advertising, and nothing else. This page explains what that means in practice, because "we make money somehow" is a reasonable thing to want to know about a site you are pasting your data into.

Where the money comes from

DevSnap is funded entirely by display advertising. Google AdSense places ads on the pages, and the ad networks pay for the impressions and the clicks. The site is free, there is no paid tier and there is nothing to buy.

That is the whole business model. There is no affiliate marketing, no lead selling, no data brokerage, and no paid placement in the tool results.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell, rent or share your data. We do not have your data in the first place.
  • We do not build a profile of you across websites. We do not run a behavioural advertising system of our own.
  • We do not require an account, and we never ask for an email address.
  • We do not place an advert inside a tool result or next to a value you copied. A tool's output is never an advert.
  • We do not accept payment to change how a tool behaves or what it reports.

Why the tools run in your browser

The tools process your input on your own machine, and nothing is sent to us. This is not a policy promise that could change quietly, it is how the site is built: there is no endpoint that receives what you paste.

The practical benefit for you is that a payload containing a customer record, a token or a credential stays on your machine. The benefit for us is that we do not have to handle other people's secrets, which is also why the site is cheap to run.

Why the ads look the way they do

The layout is deliberately restrained. Advertisements sit below the tool and inside the article, never on top of the input, never between the tool and its result, and never styled to look like a button, a download link or a navigation item. Each one is labelled as an advertisement, and there is never more than one in a single screen.

If a tool page does not have enough content to justify an advert, the advert is not there. We would rather lose the impression than make the page unreadable.

Advertisers

Ads are served by Google and its advertising partners. We do not control which advertisements appear, we do not endorse the products or services in them, and we are not responsible for the content of any advertiser's site that you follow from one.

If you follow an advert to a site that turns out to be deceptive, report it to Google and we will block the advertiser from this site where we are able to.

Your choices

You can accept or reject advertising cookies with the banner, and change your mind later with the "Cookie choices" link in the footer. You can also opt out of personalised advertising at adssettings.google.com, or block ads entirely with an extension. The tools work exactly the same either way.

The full detail is in the Cookie Policy.

Asking us to remove an advert

If an advert on this site is for something you consider illegal, deceptive or simply inappropriate, tell us at [email protected] with the page URL and a description of the advert, and we will block it and report it to the network.

Who writes the content

The guides and the written notes on each tool are written by Enrique M.. Where a guide covers a specification, the specification is the source of truth and the guide links to it.
